First 24 hours at home (Saturday night 11/3 and Sunday 11/4). Ahhh....lots of snuggling. Nancy (Melissa's mom) and Greg Bass arrived in town Saturday night. |

After baby was born, we spent the next evening and day all together in our hospital room. We could have stayed another day, but Melissa was eager to get back to our own home. (Friday 11/2 and Saturday 11/3). |

Movies! These are VERY big, so if you are connecting over a dialup modem, prepare to take quite a while to download these. They are .AVI files, which you should be able to play using Quicktime on a Mac or Windows Media Player on a PC - if you have trouble playing them let us know.

Baby Z is a he! Born Friday November 2 at 2:11pm, our child weighs in at 7lbs 5.7 oz and 19" long. Melissa carried through her desire to have a natural (unmedicated) childbirth and after 2 days of labor (only 11 hours at the hospital), delivered a happy baby boy! As of 4pm Friday, baby is nursing, Melissa is recovering, and we've eliminated half of the names we were thinking of (aka, the female ones). |

Prelabor! Those contractions sure are fun. Sure they're not full strength... Like oh so many first timers, we went to the hospital just to be told to go back home. At least it wasn't our idea to go in - the OB on call told us to after 4 hours of 45-60second contractions every 4-6 minutes. (10/31/2001) |
